Voice Actor Statement
The greatest gift my mom ever gave me was reading to me every night. This fostered my dream early on to become a storyteller. Ever the overachiever, my first spoken words as a kid were literally “Read me a book!” As fate would have it, I found my calling as a full-time Professional Voice Actor and Audiobook Narrator.
My training in acting, singing, speech, and other performing arts have spanned my entire lifetime. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Thomas Edison State University. In addition, I am a graduate of a rigorous two-year college performing arts program from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in Los Angeles. I also spent two years as a Vocal Performance major at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), where I studied to be an opera singer.
With extensive training in vocal performance as a professional singer, my vocal agility enables me to perform a wide range of character voices and accents. My speaking voice is like a diamond: My lower register is husky – a diamond in the rough with grit and edge, while my higher range is polished, bright, and clear like a cut diamond. Either way you look at it, I’m multi-faceted and shimmering! As a millennial with a love for sarcastic humor, I joke that I have a “resting bitch voice” and enjoy playing sharp-witted characters. Don’t let my voice fool you, though. I’m a super-nice person with a passion for connecting with people, whether in person or through my performances.
I’m most often cast to narrate YA and Romance Novels, and I excel in playing strong and snarky heroines. Being an empath, I love diving deep into the vulnerable sides of my characters. My dream project would be to narrate a Blockbuster Post-Apocalyptic Young Adult series. Book genres I never seem to get enough of (and love to narrate!) include Sci-Fi and Fantasy for their epic world-building and imagination, Thrillers for the suspense that keep readers glued to the story, YA for the beautiful journey of growth and connection we experience as we come of age, and Self-Help for unlocking our true potential to live our best lives.
I love to voice for those who have been silenced. I am a survivor of trauma, abuse, and illness. Books have been instrumental in my journey of overcoming obstacles, and I believe that sharing our experiences is the first step to healing. I am committed to telling stories of hope and resilience to empower others to reclaim their strength and spirit.
